Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used by a gynecologist to examine the inside of the bladder and urethra. It involves inserting a cystoscope, a thin tube with a camera and light, through the urethra to provide a clear view of these areas. This minimally invasive procedure is essential for diagnosing and treating urinary tract conditions such as bladder stones, tumors, infections, and structural issues. It allows for direct visual examination and therapeutic interventions, making it more effective than imaging tests like ultrasounds or CT scans.

The primary benefits of cystoscopy include early detection of urinary tract conditions, precise diagnosis, and targeted treatment, leading to relief from symptoms such as frequent urination, pain, and blood in the urine. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, involves minimal downtime, and allows for a quick return to normal activities. Additionally, cystoscopy enables the removal of bladder stones and the collection of tissue samples for biopsy, significantly improving the quality of life for individuals with urinary tract issues.
