Theresa Piquette, MD

Obstetrician & Gynecologist

Theresa Piquette, MD, is joining our family at Physicians for Women – Melius & Schurr, as an OBGYN who strives to provide a patient-centered, personalized, and empowering approach to women’s care.

A Badger at heart, she originally grew up in Madison, graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed her residency training at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, and she is excited to be returning to Madison to care for the women of her home community.

Her training in Milwaukee has made her well-equipped to care for high-risk patients in both gynecology and obstetrics by providing evidence-based, effective, and goal-oriented treatments, including minimally invasive robotic surgery.

In addition to her breadth of training in both community and academic medical centers, she brings a passion for:

supporting physiologic childbirth and breastfeeding
identification and correction of menstrual disorders including PMS, PMDD, abnormal uterine bleeding, and infertility
providing access to personalized contraceptive management
minimally invasive surgical techniques including robotic and laparoscopic approaches
In her free time, she enjoys traveling to warm climates, camping, swimming, cheering on the Packers, and taking on the challenges of home renovation with her husband, Greg. They are joined in their adventures by their dog, Molly.

Theresa Piquette, a dedicated and passionate healthcare professional, joined Physicians for Women in August 2021 and became a Partner/Owner in March 2023. She/Her/Hers, Theresa is deeply rooted in Madison, having grown up there and graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She pursued her medical education at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where she also completed her residency training at the affiliated hospitals in Milwaukee.

Theresa’s passion for Women’s Healthcare ignited during high school biology when she first learned about the intricate physiology of the human body. This fascination deepened in college when her professor’s chalkboard illustrations of hormonal patterns and the menstrual cycle’s complexities left her in awe. As an OBGYN, Theresa leverages her extensive training and skills to enhance the lives of women across their lifespan. She finds it empowering to educate women about their bodies and is honored to witness the miracles of pregnancy and birth. Equally humbling is her role in supporting patients through illness, guiding them through treatment options, and helping them choose the right path for their health.

Choosing a career as an OBGYN was an easy decision for Theresa. Despite the long and challenging days, she remains grateful for the opportunity to serve her patients. The growth and joy she witnesses in her patients’ lives make every moment worthwhile. Her enthusiasm for teaching about the menstrual cycle remains as strong as when she first learned it herself.

Outside of work, Theresa is married to Greg since 2014, and together they adopted their beloved dog, Molly, from Thailand in 2017. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her “second family” at Burn Bootcamp, traveling to warmer climates with beaches and snorkeling, camping at Peninsula State Park (where she honeymooned), hiking in breathtaking places like Glacier National Park, cheering on the Packers (GO PACK GO!), and thrifting for home decor, new clothing styles, or furniture to update and inspire her space.

Theresa feels blessed to work alongside a team of partners who share her passion for women’s healthcare, making her professional journey all the more fulfilling.
