OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner

Welcome! I have had the privilege of being a midwife since 2016. My journey began in a large practice in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts, and in 2018, I returned to my home state of Wisconsin. Here in Madison, along with two other midwives, I had the honor of establishing the midwifery practice at SSM Health. I joined The Madison Midwives in January 2023 and am so glad I did. I truly love being a part of this private practice as I am able to focus on building strong relationships with the families we care for while working alongside a phenomenal group of midwives, OB/GYNs, and primary care nurse practitioners.

Guiding families through the transformative journey of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care is not just my profession but a genuine passion and privilege. I also enjoy providing care for women during gynecology visits, including contraception. Beyond my role as a midwife, I am a momma to an energetic toddler and a stepmom to three remarkable children. Being a wife, mom, and stepmom continues to shape me, pushing me to grow in patience, empathy, and humor daily.

Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner
Kimberly Erickson, MSN, WHNP-BC, CNM has been dedicated to providing compassionate care in the field of women’s health for over a decade. Kimberly’s career began with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Viterbo University, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing and a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University in 2015. Kimberly is both a Certified Nurse Midwife and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, bringing a comprehensive approach to her care for women across all stages of life.
Kimberly began her nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI, before moving to Charleston, South Carolina, and transitioning into Labor and Delivery. She continued to work in Labor and Delivery through graduate school and upon completion she moved to the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts to take her first midwifery position in a bustling practice. Her desire to be closer to family pulled her back to Wisconsin and in 2018 she became one of the three midwives hired to start a midwifery practice at SSM Health. After successfully getting the midwifery practice at SSM started, Kimberly spent two years in high-risk obstetrics at the Center for Perinatal Care at UnityPoint, Meriter. In January of 2023, Kimberly joined Physicians for Women, where she is currently a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner seeing women throughout their lifespan.
Kimberly is board-certified as both a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Nurse Midwife. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the National Association of Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners, and the Menopause Society.
Outside of her professional work, Kimberly enjoys spending time with her husband, three stepchildren, an energetic toddler, and their mini Goldendoodle. She loves outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing, and feels rejuvenated when outdoors. Traveling is a passion of Kimberly’s, and, before the responsibilities of motherhood, she went on a 100-day trip around the world exploring 17 countries along the way. Now she enjoys seeing the world through her kids’ eyes and taking them to new places.
