“After I delivered my second baby vaginally I was having problems with incontinence. I would have to cross my legs when I was about to sneeze or cough and could not go for a run without an “accident”. At 34 years old I thought this was just my life now, part of having babies. Then I heard about the FemiLift and the possibility of reducing the effects of Stress Urinary Incontinence. I felt like I had to give it a try and I will always be thankful for this treatment, it gave me my life back. In 3 short 15 minute office visits I gained back control of my bladder and am able to run again, not worry when I cough or sneeze and I can even jump on the trampoline with my kids!”

A CO2 laser is an advanced medical tool used by gynecologists for various treatments, including tissue removal, cutting, and ablation. It provides high precision, reduced risk of infection, and minimal scarring. This laser is particularly effective for treating conditions like abnormal cervical cells, endometriosis, and vaginal atrophy. Patients benefit from less pain, reduced bleeding, and faster recovery times compared to traditional surgical methods, making it a preferred choice in gynecological care.

The CO2 laser significantly impacts daily life by allowing quicker returns to normal activities and improving overall health outcomes. Its preventive role in removing abnormal cells before they develop into cancer is crucial. Although there are minor risks, such as temporary discomfort or slight infection risks if post-care instructions are not followed, the benefits outweigh the complications. The CO2 laser stands out for its precision and efficiency, offering effective treatment options that enhance patients’ quality of life.

Vaginal Rejuvenation Q & A

Why is my vaginal health changing?

Childbirth and menopause affect the health and elasticity of your vaginal tissues. As your hormone levels begin to decline, you may experience vaginal dryness, irritation, and stress urinary incontinence. Your vaginal tissues feel thinner and drier than before. These changes are due to a reduction in blood supply and subsequent lubrication within the vagina.

Such side effects aren’t uncommon. Close to 50%, and a likely higher percentage of women experience these symptoms during the perimenopausal and menopausal timeframe. In the past, doctors treated symptoms with hormones, but now Physicians for Women offers an alternative with the innovative FemiLift procedure for vaginal rejuvenation.

What is FemiLift?

FemiLift is a quick, laser-assisted procedure designed to improve damaged or atrophic vaginal tissue. The minimally invasive treatment uses a fractionated CO2 laser to promote collagen production and new vascularization in the vaginal tissue to restore elasticity and moisture,

while strengthening the supportive tissues beneath your bladder and urethra to address urinary incontinence and urgency.

A trained provider performs the procedure in a private and comfortable procedure room at the Physicians for Women office. You can resume almost all of your usual activities immediately after your treatment session, including returning to work or exercising.

What does the FemiLift treat?

The team at Physicians for Women may recommend FemiLift to address a range of women’s health issues, including:

  • Vaginal dryness
  • Mild to moderate stress incontinence
  • Painful sex
  • Vaginal laxity
  • Atrophic changes to the vulva and vagina
  • Lichen sclerosis

What happens during a FemiLift procedure?

You undress from the waist down, similar to a pelvic exam. Your Physicians for Women provider gently inserts a slim laser probe into your vagina. Some patients say the probe feels a bit uncomfortable but doesn’t hurt.

The laser probe is gently rotated circumferentially targeting the entire vaginal surface and gradually withdrawn to the level of the introitus. You may feel mild pulses during your treatment, but it is not painful and very well tolerated.

Each FemiLift treatment takes fewer than 10 minutes. For maximum results, we recommend three sessions spaced four weeks apart. You can expect the benefit of a FemiLift to last one to two years before needing a FemiLift Boost (a single treatment) to restore the tissues once again.

Call the Madison office today or book a consultation online to see if vaginal rejuvenation with the FemiLift is right for you.
