Obstetrics

Physicians for Women is a group practice. During your pregnancy care, we request our patients rotate appointments with all of our OB/GYN physicians, as well as with our nurse practitioners. We all have similar philosophies and practice styles regarding obstetrical care, but if you prefer to see only one physician throughout your entire pregnancy, you may do so. Please realize, however, that we rotate 24-hour call between our board-certified OB/GYNs and have found that most patients enjoy meeting with all of us before their big day.

Prenatal Package

The Physicians for Women clinicians and staff wish to congratulate you and are excited to help guide you through your pregnancy! Please thoroughly read all the documents included here as they may answer many questions you have or direct you to where answers can be found.

Welcome Packet

The Obstetrical Welcome Packet contains information on the standard of care we provide for our obstetrical patients. You’ll find an overview of anticipated office visits, routine laboratory tests performed, and ultrasounds you can expect to receive at our clinic.

Cord Blood Banking

The practice of banking umbilical cord blood is becoming more common as part of the birthing process. Cord blood:

Remains in the umbilical cord just after birth
Is rich in stem cells (up to ten times more concentrated with stem cells than bone marrow)
Can be frozen for many years and, if prescribed by a physician, may be used in future therapy.
Our physicians facilitate cord blood banking processes on behalf of our patients. We recommend AlphaCord for cord blood storage services.

Counsyl – The Universal Genetic Test

A safe, non-invasive medical test to screen for dozens of serious diseases like cystic fibrosis, SMA, fragile X, sickle cell, and Tay-Sachs. These diseases cannot be cured, but they can be prevented.

For more information on genetic testing, contact us or visit Counsyl.
